The Medal for Bravery and Loyalty 1870 was instituted to honour 7 non-European combatants who were not eligible to be honoured with the Military Order of William. The medal is a hexagonal bronze medal. Obverse: The front of the national coat of arms with the inscription "Moed en Trouw 1869-1870" (Bravery and Loyalty). Reverse: "Commendah. Andema-Atjirm. Kwassie-Krom" (These were the conquered places where combats took place). Diameter: 30mm.
